Tourism recovery in Vietnam surpasses expectations, says Deputy PM
“Vietnam’s tourism has not only recovered but has thrived, marking it as a luminary in our socio-economic landscape,” Deputy Prime Minister Long remarked. He bolstered his statement with statistics: in 2023, Vietnam welcomed 12.6 million international tourists, surpassing its target by 57.5% and generating revenues of 672 trillion VND. This performance earned Vietnam the title of “Asia’s Leading Destination” for the fifth consecutive year. In 2024, the country has already seen nearly 10 million international visitors, with revenues estimated at 513.3 trillion VND.

ITE HCMC 2024: Asia’s premier tourism cooperation event
The International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC 2024) is set to become one of Asia’s most influential travel expos, driven by participation from leading global organizations and businesses, increased attention from prestigious international media, and continuous enhancements to its International Hosted Buyer Program. Over 450 exhibiting companies and brands have registered for the event, and 200 international buyers from 33 countries and territories have confirmed participation in the exclusive International Hosted Buyer Program – expected a 10% increase from 2023. This growth underscores ITE HCMC’s role as a key platform for international business connections.

Chinese tourists returning to Vietnam
According to figures by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) Vietnam welcomed 2.1 million Chinese visitors in the first seven months of 2024, showing a 200 per cent jump on-year. Ha Van Sieu, deputy director of the VNAT, revealed that “tourism between Vietnam and China is being heavily promoted, with Vietnam in particular expediting a wide range of promotion activities in China. VNAT will soon lead two Vietnamese delegations to promote tourism in Sichuan-Chongqing and Beijing-Shanghai, and attend the China International Travel Mart- CITM and China-ASEAN Travel Mart.”

New daily Hong Kong-Phu Quoc flights starting this December
HK Express is set to launch a new daily service connecting Hong Kong with Phu Quoc, Vietnam, starting 6 December. This route will mark the airline’s third destination in Vietnam, complementing its existing services to Da Nang and Hanoi. According to the latest OAG Schedules Analyser data, this will be the only direct flight between the two cities, enhancing connectivity for travellers. Hong Kong International Airport, also known as Chek Lap Kok Airport, is a pivotal hub in global air travel. As one of the world’s busiest airports, it accommodates approximately 47.9 million passengers annually and serves as the main base for leading airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, and HK Express Airways.
