In 2020, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched “The One for Nature” initiative, which encouraged visitors to ‘Travel with Responsibility in Thailand’. The campaign set out to promote sustainable tourism practices, with a long-term goal of conserving the nation’s natural resources.
Following the success of this campaign, TAT has decided to relaunch it, in order to provide international visitors with green-themed inspiration for their travels in the Land of Smiles. With many sites rejuvenated and revamped to incorporate sustainable tourism activities, TAT is keen to showcase the new landscape to visitors in the months ahead.
Running from August through September 2023, the second iteration of ‘The One for Nature’ campaign will work to promote responsible tourism under the Amazing Thailand brand. Eco-friendly travellers from all over the world can now join the programme via its official website.
“On the occasion of TAT’s 60th anniversary and as a government organisation overseeing the promotion of Thailand’s tourism sector, TAT recognises the importance of responsible tourism, and has set a clear direction for sustainable tourism development,” said TAT’s Kitsana Kaewtumrong back in 2020.
Speaking when the campaign was first created, the Executive Director of TAT’s Advertising and Public Relations Department noted the project would help strengthen awareness of Thailand as a preferred destination for sustainable tourism that appeals to environmentally conscious travellers.
“The One for Nature’ initiative forms part of this strategy to protect, rehabilitate, and conserve Thailand’s natural resources through responsible tourism,” added Mr. Kitsana at the time.
Now, as then, the overarching aim of the programme is to raise awareness and spark engagement among inbound travellers, to help responsible tourism practices take root in Thailand through a network of international influencers.
The campaign represents a collaborative effort between government and private sector organisations, local communities and international travellers. Together, these various groups will help to showcase Thailand as the destination of choice for sustainable tourism.
Activities associated with The One For Nature have already been set up in key tourism locations nationwide, including Pattaya, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
