When it comes to travel industry awards, Thailand is no stranger to success. And the kingdom has just added another gong to its growing trophy cabinet, after being named ‘Best Destination – Asia Pacific’ at the prestigious 2023 Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Awards. This is the second time the Land of Smiles has taken home the award, having previously come out on top in 2018.
Voted for by industry professionals, the Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards recognise exceptional international travel operators and suppliers. Voters look for outstanding achievements in a range of areas, celebrating the achievements of those who have, according to the Awards’ website, “propelled the future of tourism through ground-breaking developments and showcased unwavering commitment”.
“On behalf of Thailand’s tourism industry, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is honoured to have yet again earned the confidence among the industry professionals who voted for Thailand,” said Mrs. Kulpramote Wannalert, Director of TAT’s Singapore Office. “This is testament to the tireless efforts and commitment of the TAT to work together with stakeholders, suppliers and partners to create and deliver the best possible travel experience for visitors from around the world,” she added.
Two Bangkok hotels were also honoured in the latest awards, which recognised 35 organisations from around the region. The Capella Bangkok picked up the ‘Best Luxury Hotel – Asia Pacific’ title, while Holiday Inn Bangkok came away with ‘Best Midscale Hotel – Asia Pacific’. This year’s awards represent a major boon for TAT, as the kingdom continues its meteoric rise back to top spot in the regional tourism sector following successful completion of its post-pandemic recovery period.
Winners of the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2023 were selected by industry professionals, who voted online from 8 June to 28 July 2023. The awards recognise extraordinary achievements and bar-setting standards among travel operators, hoteliers and suppliers; those who, in the words of the TWA website, have demonstrated “innovation, professionalism and excellence in their respective areas of expertise.”
