02 September 2024 | Written by Chris Alexander

This weekend, Pattaya will host the Amazing Music Festival: Over the Horizon. Held at Central Pattaya Beach in Chon Buri, the event will kick off today (30/8) and will run until Sunday, 1 September. The celebrations form part of wider plans to boost tourism through large-scale events and festivals.

“The event will be a perfect prelude to the preparations for the music festival year 2025, which symbolises our invitation to tourists to come to enjoy grand celebrations of music, art, and culture in Thailand,” said Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, in a recent statement. “The strategy aligns with the government’s ‘Ignite Thailand’s Tourism’ policy to boost tourism through big events,” he added.

Amazing Music Festival: Over the Horizon will feature a wide range of artists and singers from around Thailand, representing a mix of genres – from pop to R&B and hip hop. Famous Thai acts include The Toys, Atom, No One Else, Season Five, Mos & Bank, TwoPee, Violette Wautier, bamm and MEAN. Confirmed international headline acts include Daou Pittaya, Nene Pornnappan and YinWar.

The festival is one of six large-scale events organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and scheduled to take place every month for the remainder of this year. This calendar of festivlas has been designed to showcase various regions nationwide, with a variety of themes and activities – music, food, art, sport and culture – in response to popular trends among international travellers.

Planning has also been informed by the TAT’s “five must do in Thailand” approach, which comprises Must Taste (Thai food), Must Try (Muay Thai), Must Buy (Thai fashion and local products), Must Seek (new destinations and new travel experiences) and Must See (Thai festivals).

Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, TAT Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business, said “TAT has been hosting many special events and festivals in key and secondary cities to ignite 2024 as a great year of tourism for Thailand. We have identified music festivals as an important part of our marketing strategy to promote year-round tourism in Thailand.”

Pattaya was chosen as the venue for ‘Amazing Music Festival: Over the Horizon’ due to its popularity, the wide range of tourist facilities already established and its beautiful skyline, which will serve as a picturesque backdrop for the festivities. Pattaya was also named on the list of 100 Best Beaches in the World by the 2024 Golden Beach Awards, coming in at number 12.
