Tourism Authority Thailand (TAT) is gearing up for a major promotional event in India later this month, as the organisation continues to court arrivals from the subcontinent.
Amazing Thailand Festival 2023 will be held from 24–26 March at Jio World Drive in Mumbai. The event will focus on the so-called ‘5Fs’ of Thai tourism: food, film, fashion, fights and festivals. Each year, thousands of people from Mumbai travel to Thailand for their holidays, attracted by the kingdom’s unique culture, cuisine and scenic wonders.
“The people of India have a special place for Thailand in their hearts,” explains Isada Saovaros, who is Director of the TAT Mumbai Office. “We are elated to bring true ‘Thainess’ to them in Mumbai through the Amazing Thailand Festival 2023,” he added.
The festival rundown will feature the very best of Thailand: authentic cuisine, created by top chefs; a Thai film festival, showcasing the latest flicks; a fashion event, comprising a mix of traditional and contemporary styles; and an introduction to the ancient art of Muay Thai, one of the most popular sports in Thailand. The festival will also feature an eclectic mix of music, dance and entertainment for attendees to enjoy.
Saovaros is looking forward to the event, and the influx of visitors it is expected to bring. “We hope that this festival will help in demonstrating the abounding diversity and innate essence of Thai culture and convince people to travel and experience Thailand in the coming months.”
Last year, more than 11 million international travellers visited Thailand, with almost a million originating from India. This made India the second-largest source market for inbound tourism in Thailand (behind Malaysia) and the largest group of air travellers. In 2023, around 1.4 million Indian travellers are expected to make the trip.
Amazing Thailand Festival 2023 aims to transplant the magic and mystery of Thailand onto a global stage in one of the kingdom’s key source markets. The event promises to be an unforgettable occasion, when travellers can get a taste of Thailand, and tourism operators can entice more visitors to the Land of Smiles.
