Panorama Destination is proud to announce that our Thailand office recently received SHA+ certification from the Tourism Authority Thailand (TAT), becoming one of only a handful of DMCs in Thailand to receive this honour. SHA+ certification indicates that a business is in full compliance with the highest level of health and safety standards mandated by the government and its tourism officials.
The Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration (SHA) project represents a collaborative effort between TAT, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Public Health, along with various other government departments and representatives of the private sector engaged in the Thai tourism industry. The project helps tourism businesses to prepare and implement protocols for the New Normal, in order to ensure the safe and controlled return of international tourists.
“To receive SHA+ certification is a massive step in the right direction,” says Pat Sappattarabune, General Manager at Panorama Destination Thailand. “We are committed to providing our clients with safe and sustainable travel experiences in Thailand, and by cooperating closely with TAT we can provide them with a greater level of security during their stay,” she added.
To achieve SHA+ certification, tourism industry players must first demonstrate their readiness for the New Normal. This process includes updating their products, services and sanitation measures to be in full compliance with recognised operational procedures for Covid-19, while also complying with government-approved sanitation measures. Ultimately, the aim of SHA+ certification is to build the trust and confidence of customers, by raising standards among tourism products and service providers.
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has confirmed that businesses with SHA+ certification are also approved by their internationally recognised Safe Travels protocols. With SHA+ and WTTC certification, Panorama Destination is demonstrating its commitment to safe and enjoyable travel experiences in Thailand. In addition, the company is taking steps to independently vaccinate its own workforce, with at least 70% of staff members already fully vaccinated as part of the scheme.
In addition to travel agents and DMCs, SHA+ certification covers hotels, restaurants, attractions, transportation, health facilities, retail and entertainment centres. This means that visitors returning to Thailand can look for and find SHA+ certification at every step of the journey. Earlier this month, two major tourist attractions in the capital received SHA+ certification, namely Wat Po and the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine. Both sites are now open to international tourists. To date, over 20,000 businesses and tourism sites have been certified nationwide.
