Ho Chi Minh City, 20th April, 2020 – Panorama Destination Vietnam has been made a Travelife Partner, in recognition of its long-term efforts and frontrunner position regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. The award was officially confirmed by Travelife in Amsterdam on 17th April, 2020. Panorama Destination is only the ninth company in Vietnam to have achieved Travelife Partner status.
In order to receive the award, Panorama Destination Vietnam first had to comply with more than 100 criteria related to operators’ office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife standard covers ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights and labour relations; and is formally Recognised as being in full compliance with the UN-supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.
“I am delighted to see that sustainability in the tour operators sector is obtaining momentum,” said Mr Naut Kusters, manager of Travelife for tour operators, following confirmation of the award. “The award of the front runner Panorama Destination Vietnam will inspire other companies in Vietnam to follow the same path,” he added.
Travelife, which has been established with the support of the European Commission, is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector, dedicated to achieving sustainable practices within the tourism industry. It provides companies with realistic sustainability goals, tools and solutions to implement positive change within their businesses and supply chains. Companies can only obtain “Travelife Certified” status after submitting a report in compliance with the Travelife standard, based on an independent onsite audit.
Panorama Destination Vietnam becomes the company’s third regional office to achieve certification from Travelife; the company’s Indonesia operations were the first to be awarded in 2017 (this has since expired and is currently being renewed) followed by Panorama Destination Thailand in 2019. Panorama Destination Malaysia is currently working to achieve the same sustainable standards in its operations.
