The lineup of artists confirmed to perform at Borneo Sonic Music Festival (BSMF) 2024 has just been released by the event organisers. Sarawak’s biggest music festival will return this October, and will feature some of the biggest names in Asian music.
This year, the headliners have a distinctly Korean flavour, with big names like Jung Ji-hoon (also known as RAIN), DJ Ujoo and South Korean singer Junny already confirmed. From Indonesia, Judika and Bunga Cinta Lestari will also add to the melting pot of stellar Asian talents.
Local Malaysian artists DOLLA, DJ Blink, Jess Lee Jia Wei, Prescilla Abby, DJ Slumberjack, Thomas and Zed.X complete the lineup of regional talents, representing the very best Southeast Asia has to offer. Even more artists are expected to be announced this month.
Speaking at a press conference at the Baitulmakmur II building in Petra Jaya, Sarawak’s Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah revealed the state is working to promote home-grown events, and music festivals like Borneo Sonic Music Festival have played a big part in raising the profile of Sarawak on the international stage.
“The Borneo Sonic Music Festival last year, I would say it was a big success and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts this year again is supporting this kind of event as much as possible,” said the minister. “We know the multiplier effects (on the economy) and apart from that, all of us need to be entertained once in a while,” he added.
Held in parallel to the main event, the Borneo Sonic Food Carnival will take place in Stadium Square, where around 50 food and drink vendors will combine with 20 stalls showcasing arts and crafts from around the region. The area will be open from 12pm to 12am every day from 9-12 October.
Festival goers can enjoy a unique glamping experience at the Borneo Sonic Music Festival camping ground, located just 200 metres from the stadium and the food carnival. Organisers will also host the 3km Borneo Sonic Music Run at 7am on 12 October, with 1,000 participants expected to take part.
BSMF 2024 will be held at Sarawak Stadium, Petra Jaya from 11-12 October. Ticket categories are divided into general admission, party zone, rock zone and VIP table (five pax). Early bird tickets are now available via the Borneo Sonic website, with prices ranging from RM298 (US$ 65) to RM888 (US$ 195).
