From 16-22 January 2022, the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) will be hosted in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The event will be attended by key stakeholders in the travel industry, comprising more than 100 sellers, 100 buyers and 50 national and international media representatives, along with various tourism ministers and leading officials from ASEAN.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, it is my great pleasure to re-announce that Cambodia is ready to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum,” confirmed H.E. Thong Khon, the Cambodian Minister of Tourism, in a recent statement published on the event website. Cambodia had originally been scheduled to host ATF in 2021, but the show was postponed for a year due to uncertainties surrounding Covid-19.
On the eve of the event’s long-awaited return, the minister has confirmed that, with strict vaccination requirements and operational protocols in place, Preah Sihanoukville will be a safe and secure venue for all in attendance. “I look forward to welcoming you all in Cambodia, and to reopening our region in a more resilient, sustainable and responsible future,” he added. ATF 2022 will proceed according to the theme: ASEAN – A community of peace and shared future.
“The return of ATF offers a dynamic opening to 2022 and gives us reason for optimism in the year ahead,” explains Ricky Setiawanto, Director of Business Development at Panorama Destination Indonesia. “We hope the event can be a catalyst for positive momentum in the tourism industry, ultimately leading to the reopening of tourist destinations throughout the ASEAN region and signalling a return to business as normal in the near future,” he added.
For the time being, the event represents a great opportunity for businesses like Panorama Destination to explore new opportunities and devise innovative solutions for the promotion of regional and international tourism. According to the ATF website, “the forum provides a platform to encourage collaboration between ASEAN member states and to holistically promote the region as one destination, with diverse culture, cuisine and communities.”
First established in 1981, the ATF is a cooperative regional effort to promote ASEAN as a tourist destination. The event brings together major players from tourism sectors in each of the 10 member states comprising ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Every year, a different member of ASEAN hosts the event.
During ATF Cambodia 2022, Panorama Destination will exhibit in the Indonesia Tourism Pavilion from 19-20 January. Attendees are encouraged to stop by and visit our booth during this event, to learn more about the many and varied attractions Indonesia has to offer, while also exploring some of the unique offerings presented by Panorama Destination.
