The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has just launched a campaign entitled “It’s time for Bali”, which aims to bring almost a million foreign arrivals to the island by the end of September. Supported by a new partnership with Wego, Indonesia is taking a proactive approach to tourism in the months ahead.
“There are several approaches to achieve the target of tourist numbers,” explains Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. “Namely by joint cooperation with our strategic partners in the market and organising various international-class events in Indonesia,” he added.
The minister went on to explain that this collaborative approach is helping to strengthen Indonesia’s current tourism strategies, by focusing on key areas. According to Sandiaga, this includes a mix of sports tourism, MICE, international events and tourism villages.
Bali is always a popular destination with foreign markets. Now, with tourism back up and running on the island, various international partners are looking to cash in on its unique appeal. Mamoun Hmedan is the Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director, Middle East, North Africa (MENA) & India of Wego, one of Indonesia’s key partners in the latest promotional drive.
Following the new agreement, he recently said, “we are expanding our partnerships to cover more destinations and offer our users more choice. Indonesia and particularly Bali is a hot spot for many travellers, especially from the MENA region – we look forward to working with the Indonesia Tourism Board to bring more travellers to the country.”
Indonesia’s partnership with Wego will open up promotional channels to the company’s impressive MENA user base, allowing the ministry and its affiliates to generate more interest and secure more bookings to Bali in the weeks and months ahead.
To accelerate the return of travellers to Bali, Indonesia is currently offering Visa on Arrival (VoA) services to 72 countries. Meanwhile, the government is taking measures to ensure the safety of all arrivals, with Indonesia’s highest vaccination rates concentrated on Bali and health standards stringently enforced according to CHSE certifications.
Wego is a travel metasearch engine based in Singapore which runs 76 country sites in over 22 languages and local currencies. In June 2014, the company launched its own Private Marketplace, allowing advertisers access to its database of travel audiences around the world. The trading desk now operates with DSP partners from the US and UK, along with many more in Asia Pacific, Macau and the Middle East.
