Indonesia is intensifying efforts to develop its five super-priority destinations – Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang – to drive sustainable tourism in the country. These initiatives aim to attract high-value travellers, enhance local economies, and achieve Indonesia’s ambitious 2025 target of 16 million international visitors.

Indonesia promotes new programmes at ASEAN Tourism Forum 

The Ministry of Tourism recently promoted new Indonesian tourism programmes at the Travel Exchange of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025, which took place from January 15 to 17 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The forum is considered the best opportunity to introduce new programmes which aim to develop tourism in Indonesia, according to the ministry’s deputy for marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini.

Borobudur International Tourism Expo 2025 

Borobudur International Tourism Expo (BITE) 2025 will be held again at the Grand Artos Hotel & Convention Centre in Magelang, Central Java, from 15-17 June 2025. This event aims to promote Indonesian tourism, culture and diversity, while attracting domestic and foreign tourists. This activity will bring together international delegations, tourism industry players, travel agents, local governments and local entrepreneurs to discuss and promote the country’s  tourism potential.

Government committed to making Bali the heart of Indonesian tourism 

The government is committed to making Bali the heart of Indonesian tourism, with its Quality Tourism motto, to increase the number of tourist visits to the island.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana conveyed this during her visit to the Jatiluwih Tourist Destination Area (DTW) in Tabanan, Bali, last month. The United Nations Tourism named this tourist area one of the best in the world in 2024.
